No more free cars for MPs when I am Elected President of Uganda

As a nation, Uganda is blessed with immense potential, but it’s disheartening to see many citizens struggling to make ends meet. With a population of 46 million, it’s unacceptable that some individuals can’t afford quality healthcare, education for their children, or even basic nutrition. The stark reality is that many Ugandans live in poverty, and it’s our collective responsibility to address this crisis.Meanwhile, corruption has become a cancer that eats away at our government’s resources. It’s appalling to see employed intellectuals, entrusted with managing public funds, behaving like vultures, preying on taxpayers’ money. The recent scandal where MPs were gifted 100 million shillings each is a glaring example of the disconnect between our leaders and the people they serve.The Inspector General of Government (IGG) is supposed to be a watchdog, holding public officials accountable for their actions. However, the IGG’s office seems to have become a toothless puppet, failing to effectively check corruption and abuse of office.As a presidential candidate, I’m committed to turning this tide. When given the mandate, I’ll implement bold reforms to prioritize the welfare of ordinary Ugandans. Specifically, I’ll:- Abolish the practice of gifting cars to MPs, which is a luxury we can’t afford.- Reduce MPs’ salaries to bring them more in line with the reality of our economy.- Reduce the number of MPs to make our legislature more efficient and cost-effective. The savings from these measures will be redirected to:- Pay LC 1s and VHTs a decent salary, recognizing their critical role in community development.- Provide parish-level tuk-tuk ambulances to improve access to healthcare, especially in rural areas.- Prioritize funding for essential services like healthcare, education, and nutrition.These reforms won’t be easy, but they’re necessary to ensure that our resources are used for the greater good. It’s time for Ugandans to unite and demand change. The SpongeMan Revolution is ready to deliver a new era of leadership, one that puts the people first and promotes accountability, transparency, and prosperity for all. Let’s vote out this regime and build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.
