My comprehensive Agricultural Plan when I become President of Uganda
Comprehensive Agricultural Plan when I become President of Uganda
My major plan when elected into office is to alleviate poverty and food insecurity. This is done by apportioning 10% of the national budget to Agriculture.
This will help to:
1-Alleviate household poverty and food insecurity in my first 5 years because 70 % of the working population is in agriculture.
2- Reactivate government farms / Ranches to act as demonstration farms to farmers. These can act as youth entrepreneur hubs because they will be places of youth indoctrination, military training, labour for farms for like 6 months and research centres for alternative cooking energy options.Government farms will employ many community members in every district where they are set up.They can equally help in a policy of feed the children at school that I want to effect by growing corn in government farms for school feeding and milk for children’s porridge at school. It’s very possible.1 billion tree nursery development for re-afforestation or tree planting.
3- Build coffee processing industries in close proximity to coffee farmers. On the other hand, invest in coffee farming in all the regions of the country having ample rainfall and favourable soils.
4-Reinstate cooperatives to help farmers with price controls, looking out for market, value addition chain, access to finance and farmer implements , acquisition of seeds.
5-Raise Uganda’s GDP to 200 Billion USD in a span of 10 years when agricultural exports increase due to a great investment in addition to manufacturing and mineral exports.
6-Prepare to absorb the shock of food insecurity by 2050 when Uganda’s population is projected to be at 100 million.Hectares upon hectares or kilometers of a chosen crop like corn in those farms per district can be part of the government program to grow food and keep in Silos for national food security strategy.
7- Create more jobs in the agricultural sector.
Ugandans, surely people died in 2023 from Karamoja region for a lack of food. If now when our population is less than 50 million,we hardly have enough to eat at certain times of the Year, how sure are we that we can manage to feed a population projected to reach 100 million by 2050.I am the right man to take over at this moment from the current regime.I have seen Ugandans suffering,I have lived among communities where people have hardly had enough to eat.I have seen the youth wallowing in poverty like the wilderness has smoked them out into the harsh world,I have had a first hand account of their suffering.
Some policies like this one will be ignored if Ugandans made a mistake to institute leaders who have been natured from a rich setting or palaces. They have never felt hunger pangs in life.It can’t be a priority to them because they have nothing to relate with.
Support me and know Uganda will be in the right hands.I want to be the reason Uganda will have hope for a brighter future.
I will have the conviction to serve Ugandans and attend to their most crucial needs.
